So I have needed a place to display the photos I take for myself when time allows for it... initially I wanted to stay away from blogging because I have a habit of updating only twice a year or so... With encouragement from a friend (Jessica), I have decided to see if I can keep this up and share my work. I have always kept my photos close to my heart and hesitated sharing them with others. As part of my growth process I need to learn that sharing my work, no matter what my opinion of it is, is crucial to developing my photography.
Nearly every day I take photos for the company I work for. Although I am the one who captures the photos, they are initiated by the company, property of the company, and for company use only. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my 8-5 job and it keeps me clothed, housed, and fed, but sometimes I get caught up in what the company wants and needs rather than what I, as a photographer, want and need. During company time it is appropriate to do what they want in need, but in my down time, I need to honor my needs and wants for photography. How else will I grow? In order to keep my passion for photography alive, I need to take time to shoot for myself, and choose subjects important to myself, things I want to capture.
