Sunset in Black Canyon City

The clouds inspired me to find a spot to take a few sunset shots. I drove north on the I-17. After ending up in Black Canyon City and pulling off a random side road I found a few spots. I also brought my 35mm and shot some Velvia... I miss film more and more these days. Digital is too easy and I feel like I have become so lazy. When that roll is developed, I will post a series featuring film. In the meantime: More desert!

Hi Jeepies... I heart you even though I pretend not to.

 One thumb up.
Thanks for getting me there and back, Jeepies.
I don't know why I posted this one.
Attempted panoramic.

On the way home I took the Carefree Highway and saw three javalina sprint (as fast as piggies can) across the road. There were also a few cows and a bull grazing mindlessly despite the cars zooming past.

A Room With a View

One of my favorite things about winter in AZ are the storms that roll through every few weeks (when we're lucky). Here are some shots I took on the way home from Jessica's bridal shower. Pulling over on the I-10/I-17 transition was a little scary, so I shot through the window so I would not meet my end by becoming road kill.

When I got home, I was just in time to see the sun set over the mountains west of Lake Pleasant.

I love our house... I pray that when the 303 is complete, they will not destroy the desert behind our house by building more homes on it... please save some of these open spaces! The land is disappearing too quickly.

Desert Snow

On New Year's Eve, we took a drive up to Crown King after a winter storm dumped snow at elevations as low as 2000 feet. We used the winch for the first time when my dear husband tried to park in 2 feet of snow. It worked well. I spared him by not photographing the rescue operation.

Hot Air Balloon Ride

I am really late in posting this... but nevertheless--our hot air balloon adventure on New Year's Day.

Thank you for a wonderful anniversary gift, Adam!
