This Summer I... Ran a 190 Mile Relay

Well, 16 miles of it, with a team of 11 other awesome people who are inspiring and dedicated to their sport! The race began on my 28th birthday and ended the following day. All I can say is... this was one of the best ways I could have spent my birthday. Even though it was wonderful to have time to myself, I did miss Adam and wished he could have been there. Oh well. Maybe next time... maybe next time he can be on the team too! Wink wink.

Sunrise at the start line in Blaine, WA, on the US/Canadian Border. Border patrol was everywhere. I should not have used my cell phone here... I got charged for "roaming"... oops!
"The Lord of the Ragnar"... They ran dressed like this. Yes, the entire way! Gollum is so frightening.
I would show you the other drawing, but I am an idiot and spelled "hardworker" wrong.
Wear your flair! Fake tattoos for the race.
 Transition 8 in the woods.
An abandoned Lincoln at one of the rest points.
This is my kind of roadside attraction.
Armando passing the bracelet to Cathy. "Honey Bucket" in the background.
Run down barns in the countryside.
A burger & milkshake country store at transition 12.
2 days in a van with 6 strangers.
What a way to enter year 28!
 Beautiful sunset on Day 1.
 Motivation for the last leg!
 Go Jorge!
 Fall... kind of.
Yes, this guy really finished dressed like that... I really don't know how people run in costume!
Thanks for asking me to be on the team, Jaci! It was an honor!
We survived! Celebrating with a nice, cold, porter!
 Goodbye Seattle, I shall return.
Tear. Do not want to return to the heat!
I think I am wrong, but this was past the Columbia River Gorge... so... Mount Hood?
It's time to pick out my next event so I do not become lazy. What shall it be? There's nothing like Ragnar, it really felt like being at summer camp for a week, making new friends, trying new things, and being sad to part at the end. You're tired, smelly, and hyped, but you're team helps you get through. Running in weather that was (on average) 65 degrees was phenomenal, especially after running weekly in the AZ summer heat of 95 degrees and higher. I felt so blessed to be running on country roads, and through the woods of the San Juan Islands. I really do love the Pacific Northwest, I can see us there someday. I love Arizona, it is my home, but sometimes I crave change.
